LUGAR ALTO

São Paulo 80’s post-punk gem to be officially released after 32 years

The original archive was recorded on tape and it remained untouched until today.

MUMIA was an 1988 ephemeral project by Kodiak Bachine (formerly of the influential São Paulo 80’s band Agentss) and Celso Alves.

This 6-track album is different from the current Lugar Alto catalogue, it leans toward genres like post punk and ambient music. In addition, one of the most interesting features of this unique work is its interaction with Egyptian motifs and the unorthodox usage of language and vocabulary.

The album was curated by Millos Kaiser, renowned DJ from Brazil and also responsible for the impeccable compilation “Onda de Amor: Synthesized Brazilian Hits That Never Were (1984-94)” released by  Soundway Records.

All the artwork was made by São Paulo design studio Sometimes Always, and  its distribution will be done by Honest Jon’s in London.

More information to come in the next days.

Homenagem now distributed in Europe

The initial 300 copies are sold out from the source.

Homenagem by Leonardo V. Boccia was Lugar Alto’s first release. All 300 copies were produced in Brazil and its distribution was done independently.

Following the success of this reissue, the label prepared a new batch of copies that is now being distributed world wide through Honest Jon’s in London.

You can buy now your copy though Honest Jon’s site.

Zé Eduardo Nazário’s 1982 first solo album to be reissued

This is the first time the album is reissued on vinyl.

Poema da Gota Serena, the first solo album by Brazilian drummer and percussionist is to be reissued for the first time on vinyl by Lugar Alto.

The distribution will be done by London record label and shop Honest Jon’s.

With Poema da Gota Serena, it’s possible to hear music that extrapolates the lines of the avant-garde and popular music. It’s an album that demonstrates that Brazilian jazz fusion can be both spiritual and challenging at the same time. An absolute essential.

All the music was remastered directly from the original tapes by Lelo Nazário and the artwork reinterpreted by São Paulo design studio, Sometimes Always.

Expect to see some copies of Zé’s masterpiece in record shops around the globe and through Lugar Alto’s Bandcamp, where you can buy the digital version.

The beginning of sales is scheduled for mid July.
